FBI and Notary Apostilles

What is an Apostille?
An Apostille is like a stamp or certification that makes documents official and valid in foreign countries. It is used for important documents like birth certificates, FBI background checks, marriage certificates, or court orders. The Apostille verifies that the seals and signatures on the documents are authentic and can be trusted by other countries who follow the Hague Convention Treaty.
  • Document Requirements: Make sure to have the original document that needs to be apostilled. Most commonly, these documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, educational degrees, and business documents, court orders, and FBI background checks.
  • Document Validity: Make sure the document you are apostilling is valid and has been issued by a recognized authority. The Secretary of State will not apostille a document that is fraudulent or not properly authenticated.
  • Notary Certification: Before submitting a document for apostille, it must be properly notarized by a qualified notary public. This certification verifies the authenticity of the document and the identity of the person signing it.
  • Language Requirements: The document being apostilled should be in the official language of the issuing country. If it is in a language other than English, it may need to be translated and the translation notarized as well.
Turnaround Time: Take into account the processing time for the apostille request. For Florida Secretary of State, there is a 1-2 day turnaround time (Expedited Service) and a 3-5 day turnaround time.
For the US Secretary of State, processing time is about 10-11 weeks. These timeframes can vary depending on the workload of the secretary of state's office, so plan accordingly to avoid any delays.

Travel Nursing and Medical Licensing

Are you applying for an out-of-state license as a travel nurse or someone in the medical field?  Well, Fingerprints 101 is here to make the fingerprint process easier and less stressful for you.

Each state has different requirements for background checks and fingerprints. The states that do require fingerprints almost always require you to have your fingerprints put on an FD-258 fingerprint card. Some states like Ohio, Maryland, Illinois, and others have a state-specific card that needs to be used. Most times these cards are mailed to you. We also have these cards in stock. Florida (FDLE) requires the applicant to have their fingerprints sent electronically through Live Scan software. In order to do this, you will need to locate the ORI number.
