Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) Services

We provide fingerprint submissions directly to the ATF for various forms.

Form 1 is used to make or register a National Firearms Act (NFA) item, such as a silencer or short barrel rifle. In other words, if you are building your own suppressor or short barrel rifle, you must fill out Form 1.

Form 4 is used to request approval to transfer an NFA firearm, like a suppressor or short-barrel rifle from a licensed dealer to an individual or legal entity (like a trust) who does not have a Federal Firearms License, requiring the submission of fingerprints and a background check to complete the transfer.

Form 4473 also known as the Firearms Transaction Record, is used to verify that a person is eligible to purchase a firearm. The form is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs). This helps them determine if they can legally sell a firearm to the buyer, alert the buyer to any restrictions on firearm possession, and run a background check on the buyer. An FFL holder can be a gun dealer.

Form 5320.23 is used to identify and verify the eligibility of responsible individuals involved with the transfer, manufacture, or possession of a National Firearms Act (NFA) firearm. It is also known as the Responsible Person Questionnaire. Fingerprint cards often accompany this form to run a background check on each responsible person involved.
