Why Is This So Hard to Find?

It isn't you. Ink fingerprinting genuinely is hard to find in Florida, and there's a reason.

Florida moved to live scan years ago for nearly all in-state background checks. Prints are captured digitally and transmitted electronically to Florida agencies. It's fast, it works, and it's what almost every provider in the state set themselves up to do.

But live scan is a Florida system. It doesn't transmit to a licensing board in Texas, Georgia, or New York. When an out-of-state agency asks for your fingerprints, they want a physical card — inked, rolled by hand, and mailed to them.

Most Florida providers can't do that. They don't have the cards, the ink, or anyone trained to roll prints by hand. So the calls go unanswered or you get told no.

The referral to a police or sheriff's department is well-meaning, and some do offer it. But they're serving their own community first, and clients regularly tell us they were quoted 30 to 90 days for an appointment — sometimes with restrictions on which cards they'll complete or who they'll serve.

That's not a workable answer when your employer or licensing board is waiting.

Which Card Do You Need?

For most out-of-state applications, it's the FD-258 — the standard FBI applicant fingerprint card, accepted by the majority of state boards, agencies, and employers. We keep it in stock.

Some states and agencies mail you their own card, printed with their name and address on it. If you were sent a card, bring it. We'll use the exact one they provided. Substituting a different card is a common reason applications get sent back.

How It Works

1. Book your appointment. Appointments are required so we can prepare for your visit and give you our full attention. Walk-ins are welcome when time allows.
2. Bring your ID and your paperwork. A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID is required. Bring the agency's letter, instructions, or the card they mailed you. See our full list of accepted IDs →
3. We confirm what the agency actually wants. Card type, how many copies, and how it needs to be submitted. Most mistakes get caught right here, before we roll a single print.
4. We take your prints. Rolled carefully and checked for clarity as we go. About 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how many cards you need.
5. We review before you leave. Every card is checked for smudging, completeness, and correct information.
6. We can mail it for you. For a nominal fee, we'll send your completed card directly to the agency. If you'd rather handle it yourself, we'll hand it to you ready to go.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Order extra copies while you're here.

Many agencies want two cards, and some want more. Two cards are $111.50 compared to $74.23 for one — far cheaper than a second appointment.

Check who's supposed to mail it.

Some agencies require the card come directly from you. Others want it sent by the provider. Your instructions will say.

If your prints were rejected before, bring the rejection notice.

It usually names exactly what was flagged, which makes the second attempt far more likely to clear.

If you have worn or hard-to-read prints, tell us when you book.

Age, certain occupations, and some medical conditions wear down ridge detail. We carry different solutions to help capture usable prints.
